Encaustic
Encaustic painting, also known as hot wax painting, involves using heated beeswax to which colored pigments are added. The liquid/paste is then applied to a surface—usually prepared wood, and then fused using a heated tool. I use the wax to incorporate collage materials as well as embedding found objects. I find it creates even more depth to my multi-layered pieces.
